Employee silence tijdens Covid-19

Samenvatting ‘Bedek niet alles met de mantel der liefde’ en ‘We moeten af van zwijgcultuur’, dat is tegenwoordig toon krantenkoppen wanneer het gaat over zaken die moeilijk(er) of bespreekbaar zijn op werkvloer. Het fenomeen wordt gevat onder noemer ‘employee silence’. In dit artikel thema onderzocht ten tijde Covid-19. Wat leren we uit een periode waarin massaal onverwacht thuis werd gewerkt dus veel minder dan voorheen elkaar informeel ontmoetten? survey-onderzoek geeft 21% Vlaamse werkende populatie aan meer gezwegen te hebben normaal tijdens Covid-19-periode. Zowel empathie, berekening, cynisme, gelatenheid, onzekerheid als gereserveerdheid kunnen hieraan grondslag liggen. Andere risicofactoren andere: laag werkengagement, slecht sociaal klimaat slechte relatie direct leidinggevenden. Aandacht voor stilte-brekers deze groep Covid-19-zwijgers ook cruciaal. Anderen juist zien in crisis heel wat nieuwe participatiemogelijkheden. Voor hen zal uitdaging eruit bestaan participatiedurf verder omarmen ontwikkelen.
